Before last week, my only professional eyebrow waxing had been done at a hair salon. The results were fine, but it was always super quick with not much detail given. I didn’t really go very often and was able to keep up on my brows myself. Once I got them the shape I liked, I was able to tweeze the “extras” on my own. If you are new to brow shaping or just want more detail given, I’ve got the perfect place for you! Here’s my review of Waxing The City Overland Park!
I received a complimentary service so that I could write an honest review. All words and opinions are my own!
Waxing The City Overview
Waxing the City is a franchise with locations in all but 18 states! As you can probably guess, they are a waxing-only salon. You can get pretty much anything and everything waxed there. Here is a list of their awesome (and affordable!) services.
Waxing The City Overland Park Review
I had my brow shaping appointment at their local Overland Park location. It’s located in a strip mall on the Northeast corner of 135th street and Quivira. I was able to park right in front of the door, and the receptionist was very kind. She gave me my new-client paperwork and offered me a cold bottle of water. The waiting area was very clean and relaxing and there were nice, clean product displays to look at during my short wait.
My cerologist (Waxing The City’s official name for a waxing expert…) was Desiree. She was very polite and lead me to my private waxing room. The room was very quiet and the bed I laid on was really comfortable. She gave me a mirror so we could talk about my brow goals and get a game plan. She said I already had a pretty good shape and I agreed, so we decided on a “clean up” and trim.
Waxing The City uses a hard wax for facial waxing because it is better for sensitive skin and is typically less painful. It was nice and warm and didn’t really hurt. The appointment was about 20 minutes long and as I laid there, I was really impressed with the attention to detail! It was very relaxing, too. Desiree offered a cooling oil afterward, but I really didn’t feel like i needed it! She also offered applying brow powder to show me what I would look like using it since I had told her I never use it. My brows looked perfect! Both with and without the brow powder. 🙂
A brow shaping at Waxing The City is $21, which before my appointment I probably would have thought was a little pricey given my previous waxing experiences. With the amount of detail they go into and my results, I totally think it’s worth it, especially if you are having issues with your eyebrows! They also do brow and lash tinting which would be great for those of you with really light hair.
The bottom line: I’ll be going back there for my waxing needs and you should check them out, too! 🙂
