Kansas City Fashion Week isn’t all fashion shows… Nope! The style-filled week begins with a black tie cocktail party, Bubbly & Bowties! This year’s Bubbly & Bowties event was held at R24 Studios in the historic West Bottoms district. It was a very cool ambiance with high-end handmade furniture and gorgeous crystal chandeliers in an old warehouse.
The DJ kept the bodies moving and drinks were served including champaigne from Cooper’s Hawk Winery, whisky from J. Rieger, and vodka from Clear 10 Vodka. There were delicious appetizers available from Delish Catering. My personal favorite was the deviled egg with bacon jam on top! Amazing!
There were makeup artists on-hand from Dior at Dillard’s which was fun! You could get your makeup touched up, try out new products, and smell their newest fragrances. They were all so nice and helpful!
I was fortunate enough to meet some really wonderful fellow-bloggers at Bubbly & Bowties! Antonia Martin was the first person I met and she is such a sweetheart! She pretty much knows everyone and introduced me to some other awesome gals, Elizabeth Blubaugh and Ritz Dasgupta! It turns out I live very close to both Elizabeth and Ritz and Elizabeth and I even attend the same church! #smallworld! It was really nice to meet so many other bloggers in my area who have the same passion!
What I Wore To The Events…
For the Bubbly & Bowties party I wore this muted olive green dress from Bar III, black “Lainee” pumps from Merona, and a bronze clutch from Jessica McClintock. Many women were dressed in formal gowns, but there were enough in regular dresses that I didn’t feel out of place. 🙂
The first fashion show I attended was Wednesday evening (the next night) and decided to wear all black and went for a more classic look with a black lace top from Banana Republic and a tea-length skirt from Old Navy. I stayed with the classic theme where my accessories were concerned, too. I wore a silver circle necklace and black beaded bracelet from L.Alexandra Designs.
Thursday night I dressed more on the trendy side with a cobalt blue skater dress from Merona. I wore turquoise accessories that I got recently from Blue Annie Co. A lot of people commented on both the earrings and tassel necklace…which I wore shorter and looped instead of long and straight! I was also able to experiment with some new makeup from CoverGirl that night, which I detailed in this blog post!
