New Year’s Eve parties are probably the most stylish of the year. Everyone is all decked out in their best, waiting for that midnight kiss! I mean, can you say sequins?! But…what can you do with those statement pieces after the clock strikes midnight? Read on to see how to style statement pieces after New Year’s Eve.
How To Style Statement Pieces After New Year’s Eve – Sequins Skirt
Like I said above, sequins is probably the number one trend every year for New Year’s Eve. Whether it’s a sequins skirt, shirt, jacket, or even pants, sequins is sure to be worn at every party. To show you how to style a sequins skirt after the new year arrives, I am using this bronze sequins skirt that I have for sale from Gap. For New Year’s Eve, you can style it with a fun pink blouse like this one from French Connection, or a nice black top like this one from Banana Republic. Once the party is over, you can swap out the dressier top for a softer piece like this striped sweater. Whether stripes or solid, a soft sweater is a nice contrast to the sequins and helps to dress it down a bit!

Sequins also has its place up top. This black sequins-front raglan from Old Navy is the perfect piece to dress up for New Year’s and down the rest of the year. For this post I paired the shirt with a fun-but-simple grey skirt from Loft. The colors are dark and chic, but the fabric of the skirt and the sequins on the tee work together perfectly to give you a fun outfit for a night out! To dress the top down, simply style it with a pair of skinny jeans! I’ve also styled this shirt with camouflage skinny pants. It would be great with colored shorts in the spring, too!
How To Style Statement Pieces After New Year’s Eve – Silky Top
Another texture that’s great for New Year’s Eve parties is silk and satin-like fabrics. They’re soft and somewhat shimmery and are perfect for dressing up. The chain detail on this gorgeous top from Cache contrasts nicely with the sleek black fabric, making it a great contender! For a party look, I styled it with a bright skater skirt from Zara. Add a pair of sexy black heels and you’re set! To dress the top down a bit, you could style it with something super casual like these camo skinnies from Old Navy. For shoes, I’d wear a nice pair of slip ons or a fun pair of lace-up flats like these that are originally $129 but on sale for $49.99!
How To Style Statement Pieces After New Year’s Eve – Bright Dress
If you aren’t one to follow all the trends but want to look good on NYE, you can’t really go wrong with a great dress! Plus, you can wear it again and again throughout the year to other parties, weddings, and even work. The pink dress I chose for this post is (New with Tags!) from Madewell. It’s 100% silk and has amazing ruffle detail on the back. It’s absolutely gorgeous by itself, making it perfect for those New Year’s parties! I just added an onyx beaded necklace and some fun bracelets from Kinsley Armelle, which you can order through me here. To dress this dress down a bit, I just added a light chambray shirt. You could wear a fun pair of flats to have a semi-dressy look, or even a pair of booties or cowboy boots if that’s your style!
