One of the most trendy, versatile pieces you can own right now is the chambray shirt dress. It can be styled so many ways, and even worn year-round. They can be worn alone when it’s warm, with a scarf or cardigan when it’s chilly, or under a sweater when it’s cold! Still not sure how to style a chambray dress? Read on to learn how to style a chambray dress 5 ways!
How To Style A Chambray Dress 5 Ways
The chambray dress I’m using for this post comes with a matching belt, but if you want to change it up a bit, try adding a wide belt like in the photo. You can also try a skinny, colored belt that will add another style element without taking from the dress. You could wear this with sneakers, sandals, or even booties…with tights, leggings, or bare-legged. So many options to take you through the seasons!
When transitioning into/out of spring and fall, a cardigan is your best friend. Mornings are chilly, afternoons are warm. Isn’t it awesome how a cardigan can transform an entire look?! I love the bright orange cardigan paired with the light chambray dress! Again here, you can wear this outfit alone or with tights, depending on the weather and your personal style!
Scarves can also completely transform your outfit and help you transition the same outfit from day to night, cooler weather to warmer. For this photo I removed the belt, but the scarf would look great with the belt, too. The scarf adds color to the outfit, as well as a little added warmth for those chilly mornings and evenings.

Need another layer to keep you warm? Just add a fun jacket that suits your personal style! I love how this khaki jacket from J Crew looks with the chambray dress and scarf. A fun moto jacket would also be a great, trendy option!
Want to rock your chambray shirt dress in the winter? Try layering it under a chunky sweater! I styled it with this navy pocketed sweater from Forever 21 and love how it turned out. Again here, you can add a scarf, tights, leggings, boots…the options are nearly endless!

Looks sharp and trendy! I used to wear my dad’s dress shirts with jeans in middle school because I loved the long floppy dress shirt look. 🙂
As I try to cut back, I need to find new ways to wear the pieces I have. Love how many looks you got out of one cute dress.
I love this classic look in new trendy ways! Such a great fashion post!
