DIY 2-Ingredient Clarifying Shampoo
So as you may have already read in my About page, I used to manage a salon. Needless to say, I’ve tried a lot of shampoos and conditioners. I have a ton of very thin, naturally-wavy hair that gets pretty oily when I sleep, so I’ve always been kind of picky about what I put in my hair. Most things seem to weigh it down or make it oil up faster and just look dirty. One of the products I miss using my discount on is Brocato’s Peppermint Scrub Clarifying Shampoo. It did a wonderful job at giving me a deep clean, and…it smelled like peppermint. I LOVE me some mint! 🙂
Well, I don’t get a nice little discount anymore so I improvise. Want to make your own clarifying shampoo? Go to your kitchen, grab the baking soda, and take it to the shower with you…but keep it in a dry place. When you’re ready to shampoo your hair, put the shampoo in your hand like normal, then sprinkle some baking soda over the shampoo…just enough to cover it, maybe a tad more. Mix it together and apply to your hair like you usually would! Work it through your hair really well and rinse. Condition as usual!
This is only recommended to do once a week. I only do it once every couple of months. I will say that sometimes I feel the most effect after the next shampoo. For example, if I use the baking soda in Monday morning’s shower, Tuesday’s shower will usually feel even better!
