So I’m not really sure how, but July is almost over. That means fall fashions will soon be hitting the stores to prepare for those Back to School sales! This past Spring I was fortunate enough to attend Kansas City Fashion Week’s Fall/Winter 2018 Friday and Saturday night shows, so I thought I’d give you a sneak preview of some upcoming Fall Winter 2018 trends!
Upcoming Fall Winter 2018 Trends: Not Your Average Knit
You can pretty much always count on knits being a Fall/Winter staple, but the gorgeous knits seen at KCFW were beyond the everyday sweater! I loved how Lauren Bander styled the oversized knit infinity scarf with her layered black dress. The contrast was perfect! Barbara Bultman Designs’ collection featured amazing knit details that were intertwined with her otherwise basic pieces and were some of my favorites. Amanda Casarez had some fantastic pieces with fun knit details like the white asymmetrical dress with blue knit sleeves and cold shoulders that you see below. TRBrown and Sara Kahrs also had some great knit designs that were big hits!
Upcoming Fall Winter 2018 Trends: Sleeve Detail
Sleeve detail seems to be a big trend that is continuing again this season! Whether it’s an asymmetrical design, unfinished hems, bell sleeves, split sleeves, or even fur and ruffles, a fun sleeve is a sure way to get some attention this Fall/Winter! Here are some of my favorite sleeve-y looks from Miranda Hanson, Lauren Bander, TRBrown, and the Dillard’s spotlight:

Upcoming Fall Winter 2018 Trends: Ultra Violet & Mellow Yellow
Purple has been a popular color all year thanks to Ultra Violet being named Pantone’s color of the year, and that’s not changing due to the season change! There were some gooorgeous purple pieces in Lauren Bander’s collection. Yellow has also been an on-trend color and was seen on the runway, in both small and large doses, in Amanda Casarez’s collection.
Upcoming Fall Winter 2018 Trends: Olive Green & Blush Pink
Blush pink doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, either, and I gotta say…I’m not sad! 🙂 Olive green seems to always be a Fall staple, and it’s actually been one of my favorite colors to style with blush pink. So, needless to say, it made me very happy to see them worn together in Ethel & Dean’s runway collection! Her children’s collections never disappoint!
Upcoming Fall Winter 2018 Trends: Feminine Touch
There were lots of feminine touches on the KCFW runway again this season. Beautiful lace and tulle-like fabrics, as well as ultra-flattering silhouettes were my favorite feminine details as seen in the Amanda Casarez, Barbara Bultman, She by Christian Michael, Ethel & Dean, My Heirloom Bridal Collection, and Dillard’s looks below.

Upcoming Fall Winter 2018 Trends: Chic Statement Jewelry
The Her by Georgina Herrera collection always promises to be stunning. Her bold-yet-chic jewelry looked absolutely gorgeous on the all-black ensembles. This collection proves that you can make a big, bold statement with your jewelry without being gaudy.
Upcoming Fall Winter 2018 Trends: Wedding Bells
There was no shortage of wedding gowns at the Fall/Winter 2018 shows! Tobie Marie kicked off the Friday night show with her incredible collection of beautiful gowns, and it brought me to tears. Not because of the beauty in the designs, but by her choice of models as you can see below! It was such a beautiful moment that filled my heart for the rest of the evening. The collections from Lucia’s Sarto (also always perfection!) and My Heirloom Bridal Design were also stunning. So what trends can you count on seeing this season in the wedding gown world? Sheer fabrics, exposed shoulders, lace, and dainty additions like the first photo!
There you have it…my take on upcoming Fall Winter 2018 Trends, as seen on the Kansas City Fashion Week runway! What was your favorite look that I shared? Are you a Fall fashion lover like I am?! Let’s have a conversation down below! 🙂 And while you’re here, why not sign up for my newsletter?!
